Fincantieri partecipa a bando per nuovo traghetto, Falcone: “Porteremo cantiere a Palermo”
Si è chiuso il bando da 120 milioni di euro, indetto dalla Regione Siciliana, per la fornitura di un nuovo traghetto per i collegamenti fra Sicilia e Isole minori. A darne notizia l’assessore regionale alle Infrastrutture Marco Falcone. “Alla chiusura dei termini – illustra l’assessore – abbiamo ricevuto una sola offerta da parte di Fincantieri, il più importante gruppo navale d’Europa, per costruire una nave che destineremo ai trasporti marittimi siciliani. Il bando, a cui adesso faranno seguito le dovute verifiche sulla proposta e l’eventuale aggiudicazione, prevede anche l’opzione per un secondo traghetto. Per la Sicilia è un risultato storico – sottolinea Falcone – perché finora mai nessuno aveva posto le basi per mandare in pensione i traghetti vecchi di quarant’anni che ancora circolano nei nostri mari”.
Nel dettaglio il bando, curato dal Dipartimento Infrastrutture, si era rivolto al mercato per la fornitura di una unità navale ro-pax classe A da adibire al trasporto di passeggeri, auto, mezzi pesanti e merci pericolose in colli e autocisterne con il criterio dell’offerta economicamente più vantaggiosa, sulla base del miglior rapporto qualità/prezzo.
“Una volta regolarmente concretizzata l’aggiudicazione a Fincantieri – aggiunge l’assessore Marco Falcone – faremo in modo che la costruzione del traghetto possa svolgersi al cantiere navale di Palermo, alimentando un circolo virtuoso di spesa e lavoro per la Sicilia. Eserciteremo poi l’opzione per la seconda nave. Questi ingenti fondi erano come parcheggiati, noi abbiamo spinto al massimo per giungere a un bando che renderà possibile questo grande investimento sui collegamenti marittimi”, conclude Falcone.
