Pesca illegale, la Fao approva le nuove linee guida sul trasbordo
Nella giornata conclusiva della 35esima sessione del Comitato per la pesca (CofiI35) il forum intergovernativo sulla pesca e l’acquacoltura ha approvato le nuove Linee Guida Volontarie per il Trasbordo. Le nuove linee guida volontarie hanno il compito di regolare il trasferimento di prodotto tra navi e frenare così la pesca illegale che minaccia la sostenibilità degli stock globali. A sviluppare le nuove regole sono stati i membri dell’Organizzazione delle Nazioni Unite per l’Alimentazione e l’Agricoltura (FAO), presieduti dal direttore della divisione Pesca e Acquacoltura Manuel Barange.
Diverse le raccomandazioni contenute nelle Linee guida, come quella di garantire che le navi coinvolte nei trasbordi siano autorizzate dallo Stato di bandiera, costiero o portuale pertinente e che informino le autorità competenti prima di effettuare qualsiasi tipo di attività. E poi adottare procedure di segnalazione trasparenti per facilitare la verifica delle autorizzazioni e dei dati di trasbordo. Condividere tutti i dati di trasbordo, come anche stabilire procedure di segnalazione per raccogliere e incrociare informazioni sulla quantità di pesce sbarcato per specie, forma del prodotto, area e paese di origine del pesce trasformato. Le linee guida sosterranno l’accordo Fao sulle misure dello Stato di approdo (Psma), la prima intesa internazionale vincolante messa in atto per scoraggiare ed eliminare la pesca illegale, entrata in vigore nel 2016 e il Registro globale aggiornato dei pescherecci, delle navi da trasporto refrigerate e delle navi da rifornimento.
